The money stays here in Austin to support our city’s programs and libraries making Austin an even better place to live! If you purchase from a national store, Austin will only see a small portion of the money. There is even a current website that is dedicated to buying local. You can become a member and purchase a card that will give you additional discounts to your favorite local stores! In addition, the Austin Chronicle has been publishing pages showcasing all of the unique stores and restaurants.

When you are contemplating those gifts, or stocking stuffers, remember those businesses and organizations that are here in Austin! If we all purchased one gift this year from a local business it would directly impact the money the city will have to make Austin an even better place to live!
